News & Updates: August Recap
Welcome to the first entry in our News & Updates hub. This is where we’ll be rounding up what’s new in The Choicer Voicer community — fresh packs worth knowing about, the current status of long-running issues, and anything we’ve changed on the site itself. Expect a new recap every few weeks, not a strict daily news feed.
This Month at a Glance
| Category | What’s New |
|---|---|
| Community Packs | Several new releases worth checking out — see below |
| Mic Bug Status | No official fix yet; community workaround still holds |
| Site Updates | Expanded our Judge Panels and Voice Packs guides |
New Packs Worth Knowing About
A steady trickle of new releases hit the community hubs this month. A few stood out enough to mention here rather than waiting for a full ranked list:
- Deadpan Deluxe by ColdReadKai — a judge panel built entirely around flat, unreadable reactions. Surprisingly popular with players who found the default panels too exaggerated.
- Chaos Cabaret Host by ReelBigWig — a high-energy host pack that leans hard into constant interruptions between rounds. Not for everyone, but it’s been showing up in a lot of local-multiplayer clips lately.
- Haunted Hour Pack by GraveShiftAudio — an early seasonal release, themed around horror movie lines. Worth grabbing now if you’re planning a themed night later this year.
None of these are official — as always, check a pack’s install notes before dropping it into your folders, and confirm which content type it’s actually built for.
Mic Bug: Still No Built-In Fix
The surround-sound recording dropout remains the most-discussed technical issue in the community, and there’s no sign of an official patch addressing it yet. The workaround covered in our Mic Fixes guide — routing audio output through a spare device — is still the most reliable fix players are reporting. If anything changes here, it’ll be the first thing we cover in the next recap.
No official fix yet, but the community workaround is holding up — route your output through a spare device and monitor it externally.
What We Updated on the Site
- Expanded the Judge Panels Explained guide with more detail on how score tiers shape a panel’s personality.
- Added install notes and troubleshooting tips to the Voice Packs hub based on reader questions.
- Started this News & Updates hub — if there’s something specific you’d like to see us track here, let us know through the contact page.
That’s it for this recap. Check back in a few weeks for the next one, or keep an eye on this page directly if you’d rather not wait.
